I've been struggling with the sound quality of movies and other media on my laptop for the past couple of years. For the past year, I've been using four or five sets of desktop computer speakers that I've picked up at yard sales and the Swap Shop at my dump, all linked together via a Belkin Rockstar.
This should be a step in the right direction.
