Here are some antique schoolbooks - particularly Geography books - that I found at my favorite used book store over the weekend. All of them were printed between the 1850s and 1905 and none cost me more than ten dollars.
From 1904 - Probably the prize of the bunch
Please note the extent of the Austro-Hungarian Empire
Not to mention Iowa
It includes all the latest Census data
And a guide to Hawaiian 'surf-riding'
This little guy is in rough shape, but only cost me a dollar.
The illustrations are great!
The binding on this one is cracked, but the cover is in beautiful shape. (1881)
A common theme in these old Geography books was Russians being attacked by wolves.
'Physical Geography' (1857) has a wealth of good information...
...like dealing with sandstorms.
Harper's School Geography (1878) is a classic.
I wonder how different this would have been before the War.
I've discovered that it is good to have a couple of these on hand during the school year.
They make great gifts for graduating interns...
...and other nerds.
